You’ll have exclusive access to the hand-built adobe brick castle for the duration of your stay. This means that no other bookings are taken so you can enjoy this stunning venue in peace and privacy.

Your hosts, Glenys and Kevin, have 30 years’ experience in designing, facilitating and delivering dream weddings and are devoted to making your day one that you and your guests will cherish forever.

Ceremony

Choose from several picturesque indoor and outdoor sites for your wedding ceremony, so your special day is not dependent on the weather.

From flower gardens, ponds and waterfalls to the castle turret with banquet hall, there are options for all styles and seasons.

Each area can be set up for formal and informal ceremonies with seating arrangements for small, intimate weddings or large groups up to 100 guests.

The beauty of The Mudcastle is that it’s all yours, so you can decide how you want your wedding ceremony to look and feel, and you and your guests will be able to enjoy your day in complete privacy.

Reception

Let the celebrations continue with a wedding reception in an enchanting, comfortable castle setting.

The Mudcastle can provide tables, chairs, crockery, cutlery, glassware and linen, set up according to a designated floor plan.

The castle’s layout provides a unique space for intimate wedding receptions or choose to dine in the dramatic banquet hall in the main turret. There are also lovely reception areas for smaller groups and wedding marque options for groups with up to 170 guests.

Talk to us about special requests for your wedding day and have the flexibility to work with your venue hosts to decide who will do what to achieve the day you envision.

Treat your guests with gourmet canapés, buffets, set menus, or a special medieval banquet. The Mudcastle can cater to all culinary preferences for small and large wedding parties.

We can recommend local wedding photographers who are familiar with our venue, or you can bring your own. Either way, The Mudcastle is a picture-perfect location.

Entertainment

We can arrange a genuine Wurlitzer jukebox or suitable musicians, bands or DJs to provide entertainment for your wedding day, as well as a Master of Ceremonies (MC) checklist to help the occasion run smoothly.

Wedding Accommodation

Stay in The Mudcastle’s boutique, cosy accommodation before and/or after your wedding day.

The Mudcastle can accommodate up to 16 guests across 3 suites and 5 rooms that are uniquely and beautifully decorated.

Accommodation booked for weddings is provided exclusively (ie. no other bookings are taken) and at a special hosted rate that includes breakfast.

Booking The Mudcastle accommodation the night before your wedding means you have earlier access - you won’t have to worry about getting to the venue on time and you can relax in the peaceful, scenic surroundings of the Nelson countryside.
