The Mudcastle is a unique destination and is available for exclusive use bookings, by reservation only.
The Mudcastle is nestled in the picturesque Neudorf valley and is the home of Glenys Johnston.
Hand-built over many years from more than 20,000 sun dried bricks made from the clay on the property, the full story of The Mudcastle is accessible on www.themudcastle.co.nz/story.
ACCOMMODATION SNAPSHOT
- Located just beyond the historic village of Sarau, now called Upper Moutere, 45 minutes’ drive from central Nelson, 25 – 30 minutes from Nelson Airport.
- Centrally positioned for easy day trips to the Abel Tasman, Kahurangi National Park, Source of the Riwaka, Nelson Lakes and Golden Bay, The Mudcastle is on the doorstep of world- renowned vineyards, boutique food producers, potteries, sculptors, artists and natural healers.
- Available for single party accommodation bookings of 1 - 16 guests. Each group has The Mudcastle exclusively to themselves – no other guests.
- The owner lives in separate quarters on the property so any questions or problems can be quickly attended to while guests’ privacy is respected and maintained.
- Accommodation options are either:
Option A: Hosted Accommodation (for a group of guests wanting to stay before or after a Function or Event). Hosted Accommodation prices include breakfast.
Option B: Self-Catering Accommodation. This option allows BYO but Liquor Licence and Council Consent restrictions do not permit Self-Catering Accommodation guests to hold functions and serve food or alcohol to guests who are not staying at The Mudcastle.
